06/27/66 - SN Arthur Keen, Atlantic City, NJ - [South China Sea - Vung Tau]
Arthur Keen was born on August 1st, 1946 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. At the time of his death he was 19 years old and was not married. While serving on board the USS Chesterfield County, a damaged life rail failed, causing Seaman Arthur Keen to fall overboard near the mouth of the Saigon River. Seaman Keen’s body was found on a beach two days later, and positively identified. Seaman Keen is listed as a casualty of the Vietnam War, and his name can be found on panel 08E, line 101 of the Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington D.C.

On an unknown date in 1966, the USS Chesterfield County was docked in Kao-Hsiung, Formosa, when a mechanical accident on board caused the death of the sailor. If anyone has information regarding this incident, please contact the webmaster.
